A new curry website aimed at the tastebuds of the British mainstream has been launched this week.

At the 2010 British curry awards, The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, the Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP, was the Chief Guest. Known to be a keen curry lover, Mr Pickles paid rich tribute to the contribution the British curry industry is making to the national economy and the local community. He said, “Curry has a huge place in our national affections. The Tikka Masala is more British than fish and chips.”

The project is the brainchild of Shofi Ahmed, renowned writer, poet, and the founding Editor of Bangla Mirror English Newsweekly.

Shofi said: “Curry is an integral part of our UK culinary. It is a much loved dish and has become the number one choice for the tastebuds of the nation. So much so that Chicken Tikka Masala and Fish & Chips are favoured with equal measure.

“I have long harboured intentions to harness the colour and beauty of curry and this new website is the perfect opportunity to do so.

“We have received brilliant feedback and I hope that London Bangla readers will take tome out to visit the sight and check out the features.”

Britain is home to the curry and Shofi hopes that the staggering success of the £4.2 billion industry can continue to thrive and prosper.

Curry is indeed everywhere – on supermarket shelves, restaurants, crisps and even in sandwich fillings.

“The UK curry industry continues to create jobs, millionaires and business enterprises,”  added Shofi.

“The future of curry is therefore equallyimportant for our economy as well as our well  being.”

Shofi created the website, British Curry Healthy Tips to provide a hub of information for British curry-holics and the Restaurant Industry alike.

He said: “the website will provide articles, tips, tricks, videos and resources for curry enthusiasts, who will also be able to cook and enjoy a healthy curry dish. “Restaurants can also pick up a lesson or two to adapt dishes for health conscious consumers.”
