Homeless man brutally attacked in Newham

MARCUS MENSAH, 33, was left fighting for his life after being attacked in a stairwell in Kelland Road, E13, on Monday, 2nd November. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and help them find whoever carried out the attack.

It was around 1am when the emergency services were called to Kelland Road. Mr Mensah was found in the stairwell leading to flats 1-29. An ambulance took Mr Mensah to Hospital, where he was found to have eleven fractures to his skull.

Police have gone public with details of the attack as their investigations continue. They would like to speak to anyone who was outdoors in the area of Kelland Road late on Sunday night or in the early hours of Sunday morning or anyone who heard anything, such as as argument, around the time of the attack.

Investigating officer T/DC Jon Saddington from Newham CID said, “This was a sustained and brutal assault on a homeless man who was well known throughout the area where he was attacked. Marcus has been left with devastating injuries from which he may never recover. I would urge anyone who saw what happened or has information about the attack to get in touch.
