Island Dads football unites the community

Emdad Rahman

The Island Dads Club IDC is a voluntary group based on the Isle of Dogs which encourages local fathers to participate in regular sporting activities. Football is a regular activity for them, and it sees members from all parts of the community come together to enjoy the beautiful game.

This week the ever expanding and popular group finished off their game at Millwall Park with a slap up team lunch at the Docklands Community Organisation in London’s Canary Wharf.

Group member Mo Hayder said: “We have been running this initiative for a few years. It’s a great way to get fit, socialise, enjoy some banter and create new friendships. We have a close knit community and this is a very popular get together.”

Fellow footballer Abdul Sabur added: “Ambassadors Football works to use football to unite and bring communities together. Today is a great example of what we are trying to achieve.”
