Mayor marks Remembrance Day

The Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, observed the 67th Anniversary Remembrance Day on 11th November at the Merchant Navy Memorial, Trinity Gardens, Tower Hill.
The ceremony was also attended by the Queen’s representative in the borough, Deputy Lieutenant Commander John Ludgate, local MP Rushanara Ali and other representatives of Tower Hamlets Council.
Speaking before the wreath-laying ceremony, Mayor Rahman said: “I am proud to remember the men and women who have given their lives in service of their country. Their bravery and sacrifice endures and we honour them today to ensure their memories live on.”
Other Remembrance events took place around the borough, including at St John’s Church & Library on Cambridge Heath Road; Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, Southern Grove and Christ Church, Island Gardens.
