Newham shooting: man arrested

POLICE HAVE made an arrest in the case of the Newham man who was shot in the head. The man arrested is just 18 years old and was arrested on Thursday, 25th January at an address in Brentwood, Essex. He is being held at an East London police station.

The victim was shot last Sunday, 21st January – in the late evening. The incident occurred in Romford Road, at the junction with Vicarage Lane, E15. The victim was taken to an East London Hospital, where he is still in a critical condition. His next of kin have been informed.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Trident and Area Command Unit are investigating the incident – and they have made a renewed appeal to the public for information and for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Robert Allen, who is leading the investigation, said, “We have now made an arrest in connection with this shooting but I am still appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward and tell us what they know. There is a young man in a life-threatening condition and it is vital we uncover exactly what led to him being shot. I need anyone with information to come forward and speak Who  police, or Crimestoppers anonymously.”
