Scintilla beat Barking to reach T20 semis

Scintilla took the honours in the Barking & Dagenham Derby as Ayaz Karim’s men defeated Barking CC to progress to the last four of the Essex County Cricket League T20 Cup.

Scintilla won the toss and elected to bat first. Ashraful Islam scored 77 before being caught by Sagar Seth from a ball by Lakash Vachani. Wicket keeper Aminul Shihan added 37 as Scintilla reached 175/8 after 20 overs of play. For Barking, Bhavik Kothari achieved bowling figures of 4/21. Barking were bowled out for 161 in 19.5 overs, with Pulkit Gupta the top scorer with 42. For Scintilla, Ishaq Shawn took four wickets for 24 runs.

Scintilla Captain Ayaz Karim said, “Any Derby never requires extra motivation. The boys were ready and I didn’t need to say much today. The result itself speaks volumes and we proudly take our place in the last four.”

Scintilla now face the winners of Redbridge CC -v- Redbridge Parks, with both teams meeting on 24th August.
