In a top of the table clash, Scintilla CC held their nerves as both title chasers served up a cricket treat.

Scintilla batted first and the Barking & Dagenham side knocked up another big score – 245/9 from 40 overs. Man of the match Touhid Billah struck 53 and was joined by Zisan Abedin on 45, Ashfaqur Rahman Nobel on 35, Ashish Morankar on 26, Aminul Shihan on 18 and Toufik Billah on 17.

Centurions took the field after tea and despite chasing a big total showed why they were early National Cricket League pace setters. Hassan hit 40 and Kafi 35 as the side reached 202.

Scintilla skipper Ayaz Karim and Juwel Roy claimed three wickets apiece. Rahaman, Morankar and Abul Hasib added one each to the total as Scintilla won by 43 runs.

Captain Ayaz Karim said: “This is a big confidence boost for us and the win will hopefully be the beginning of a sustained and consistent run. This is not an easy league and we are focussed on the games ahead.”
