WERE THESE CHILDREN his only victims? That’s the question police are asking after Rupert Deeble, 51, of Margaret Bondfield Avenue, Barking, was finally sentenced for a list of attacks of a sexual nature against children.

The attacks took place between 2008 and 2017. Three girls, aged between 12 and 15 when the offences were committed, were attacked – all of them known to Deeble. It’s taken a long time for the cases to come to court: Deeble was first arrested in March 2017 and convicted in May this year.

Deeble was finally being sentenced last month to over 20 years in prison, with an order that he be classed as a dangerous offender.

Detective Constable Jasmine Abbey from the Met’s East Area Borough Command Safeguarding Unit said, “I would like to thank the victims and their families for their strength and courage in speaking to police and the court about these horrendous crimes committed by Deeble. Deeble has completely shattered the lives of these young people and their families and I hope that with this verdict and sentence they now finally feel some sort of closure and are able to start trying to rebuild their lives.”

Detective Constable Nancy Smith, who also worked on the case, added, “We strongly believe that there are other victims that have not yet been able to come forward and we urge anyone who has been a victim or knows anything about any other crimes that Deeble may have committed to contact police.”
