Scintilla Cricket Club was unstoppable as Walthamstow Cricket Club were hammered at their home ground. The five wicket demolition job took place at the Peter May Sports Centre, Walthamstow.
Scintilla CC captain, Faris Almas-Lee Rosmanizam, was unlucky with the toss and was forced by the home team to field first. Abul Hasib opened the bowling for the home side and took a quickfire wicket in his first over, repeating the trick two over later. Hasib finished with 2 wickets for 20 runs in his 7 overs.
Hasib was reliably supported by Aaman Khan from the other end. Khan, who destroyed ACE in the previous match, was quieter this time around but kept the run rate to a minimum, unsettling the batsmen with unplayable deliveries.
Sajal Rahman was introduced to replace Khan and he proved his mettle once again with the ball, producing everything a medium pace bowler could wish for. Rahman took four wickets – three of them clean bowled – in a 9-over spell. Rahman concluded his bowling spell with four wickets for 25 runs.
Faris Almas Lee Rosmanizam took the decision to bowl and the Scintilla captain bagged three more wickets, conceding only 25 runs in his six overs.mExcellent catches and fielding were displayed throughout the Walthamstow CC innings, which contributed to the opposition scraping 130 in 32 overs.
After tea Scintilla began aggressively as Rifat Mahmud (8) thumped in-form medium quick pacer, Zabehulah Mohammad for two boundaries in the first three deliveries. Celebrations for Scintilla CC did not last long as Mohammad clean bowled Mahmud with a superb yorker. Star bowler Sajal Rahman was also clean bowled by Mohammad. Next batsman Ashraful Islam followed him to the pavilion with eight runs under his name.
Thereafter ensued a match deciding partnership between Scintilla CC captain Faris Rosmanizam (25) and Ashfaqur Rahaman Nobel to set up a the winning platform for the team. The plan worked out well as the 70-run partnership took Scintilla CC’s total to 108, before Rosmanizam was dismissed – caught out from an odd bounce of the ball off the wicket.
After another wicket loss it was left to Hanif Kibria (11 not out) and Nobel as the last pair of batsmen to steer Scintilla CC to a convincing five wicket victory. Nobel remained unbeaten with 46 runs.
Scintilla CC captain Rosmanizam was delighted with his team, “It was a good win today. I am proud of my players. They fought hard for the win, and it was really good to see Nobel score some runs and playing his shots today despite the confidence sapping form he has been in for a couple of weeks. I look forward to carrying the winning momentum through for the rest of the 2013/14 season,” he said.
