Police are appealing for further victims to come forward after the sentencing of a photographer convicted of sexually assaulting his models. The photographer, who abused the trust of two models to sexually assault them, was jailed for seven years on Tuesday, 29th July, at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Sean Colclough, aged 40 (his date of birth is 05/10/73), of Amhurst Road, Hackney was sentenced to four years for the assault of a 27-year-old woman and three years for the assault of a 25-year-old woman. The sentences are to run consecutively.

Colclough worked full-time as a freelance photographer based in his studio in Wallis Road, Hackney. His clients included models and aspiring models who required professional photographs for their portfolios.

In March 2011, Victim 1 – a 27-year-old woman – met Colclough at his studio. He persuaded her to undress completely during the photo shoot and touched the naked woman intimately despite her attempts to get away from him. Later the same month, Victim 2 – a 25-year-old woman – also met with Colglough at the studio. Again, she was persuaded to undress completely and Colclough touched and kissed her intimately.

Victim 1 alerted police officers to the sexual assault. An investigation was launched by officers from Tower Hamlets CID and Colclough was arrested a short time later. Following a search of his home and his studio, computer equipment was seized, which led officers to identify the second victim. Colclough was charged on 19th November 2013 and convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 24 June 2014.

DC Richard Brierley of Tower Hamlets CID said: “It is possible that other women have suffered similar assaults, and I would urge any other victims to contact police. They will be given the full support of specially trained officers and their allegations will be thoroughly investigated.”

Colclough was found not guilty of two further counts of sexual assault against two other women.
