Attack on Kier Hardy estate

Police were called at 14:26hrs on Wednesday, 14th May to reports of a man attacked on the Kier Hardy Estate, Springfield, E5. The 53-year-old victim was carrying out garden maintenance in the area when a substance was thrown over his head.

A 53-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm that same day and was taken to an east London police station. The victim and the suspect are not known to each other.

The man was taken to an east London hospital for treatment to head and shoulder injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital but will require a prolonged and intensive course of treatment.

Detective Sergeant Paul Ridley of Hackney Violent Crime Unit is appealing for witnesses. He said: “’I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident but has not yet come forward. I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident and events of this nature are extremely rare. The suspect was very quickly apprehended and is in custody at this time. I am not seeking any further suspects in connection with this enquiry.”
