The Bangla Mirror Group, the publishers of the Bangladeshi Who’s Who – the first ever Bangladeshi power list – have announced plans for the eagerly anticipated 2016 publication of this compendium of the best of British Bangladeshi life. This is the ninth year of the celebrated publication and is a true testament to the resounding success of the BB Who’s Who team in collating, verifying and sharing the magical achievements of the British Bangladeshi community and their engagement in general and civic life.

The British Bangladeshi Who’s Who publication is a legacy that future generations, decades from now, will be able to look back at and feel proud. It is worth noting that the Bangladeshi community has been an integral part of Britain for nearly 100 years and this publication aims to recognise and catalogue the success of the community while preserving this as a lasting memory.

The British Bangladeshi Who’s Who editor Shahadoth Karim said, “We came up with this concept to celebrate the best of the British Bangladeshi community. Too often in the modern day the fantastic contributions of ethnic communities are overlooked. The Bangladeshi community is no exception. We are part and parcel of the fabric of our great country and we make huge contributions in all aspects of life. We are a vital part of what makes Britain great.”

In an era of great political uncertainty and question marks over what migrant and ethnic communities bring to the table, the British Bangladeshi Who’s Who publication is a welcome celebration and a reminder to all of what the Bangladeshi community has accomplished in terms of enterprise, politics, academia, sports and the arts.

Editor in Chief Abdul Karim Goni added, “This is a labour of love for the team. It is a lasting legacy and living proof of the struggles and triumphs of the Bangladeshi community in Britain. We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to be of service to the community at large. This is truly a great privilege and honour for my team.” The senior British Bangladeshi journalist did not reveal any names for the new publication but assured everyone that there are some pleasant treats in store for this year.

The flagship publication is updated annually to reflect the growing success and positive contributions to life made by the Bangladeshi community. The official launch of this year’s publication will take place at the Meridian Grand venue on Thursday, 17th November and will be attended by the great and the good.  The 2016 event and gala dinner is sponsored and supported by numerous organisations and businesses, which include lead partner Meridian Grand. The Canary Wharf Group is supporting the event, as is Biman Bangladesh Airlines – copies of the publication are now available on board for passengers to enjoy reading.

Present at the launch event were Zakir Khan, Associate Director, Canary Wharf Group; Meridian Grand Managing Director Nikkita Mulchandani; and Medialink Director Mujibul Islam. The Who’s Who team is: Koyes Uddin, Mohammed Ali, Subhan’s Ahmed, Hafsa Islam, Rashed Belal.
