The Boundary Commission has proposed the following changes to parliamentary seats in the key East London boroughs.
Tower Hamlets Currently two MPs: Bethnal Green & Bow; Poplar & Limehouse Proposed one MP for Stepney & Bow; some wards combine with Hackney; some wards combine with Newham Boundary Commission proposals: (1) New seat of Stepney and Bow contains these wards from Tower Hamlets: Bow East, Bow West, Bromley North, Bromley South, Mile End, Shadwell, St Dunstan’s, St Katharine’s & Wapping, Stepney Green, Whitechapel (2) New seat of Shoreditch & Bethnal Green combines four wards from Tower Hamlets (Bethnal Green, Spitalfields & Banglatown, St Peter’s, Weavers) with these wards from Hackney: Dalston, De Beauvoir, Haggerston, Hoxton East & Shoreditch, Hoxton West, London Fields (2) New seat of Poplar & Canning Town combines six wards from Tower Hamlets (Blackwall & Cubitt Town, Canary Wharf, Island Gardens, Lansbury, Limehouse, Poplar) with five wards from Newham (Canning Town North, Canning Town South, Custom House, Plaistow North, Plaistow South)
Newham Currently two MPs: East Ham, West Ham Proposed one MP for East Ham; some wards to in with Waltham Forest, some wards go in with Tower Hamlets Boundary Commission proposals: (1) New seat of East Ham contains nine wards from Newham (Boleyn, East Ham Central, East Ham North, East Ham South, Green Street East, Green Street West, Little Ilford, Manor Park, Wall End) (2) New seat of Leyton & Stratford sees four Newham wards (Forest Gate North, Forest Gate South, Stratford and New Town, West Ham) go in with five wards from Waltham Forest (Cann Hall, Cathall, Grove Green, Leyton, Leytonstone) (3) New seat of Poplar & Canning Town combines six wards from Tower Hamlets (Blackwall & Cubitt Town, Canary Wharf, Island Gardens, Lansbury, Limehouse, Poplar) with five wards from Newham (Canning Town North, Canning Town South, Custom House, Plaistow North, Plaistow South)
Barking & Dagenham Currently two MPs: Barking, Dagenham Proposed two MPs: Barking & Beckton; Dagenham & Rainham Boundary Commission proposals: (1) New seat of Barking & Beckton contains: Barking & Dagenham wards (Abbey, Becontree, Eastbury, Gascoigne, Goresbrook, Longbridge, Mayesbrook, Parsloes, Thames) and two wards from Newham (Beckton, Royal Docks) (2) New seat of Dagenham & Rainham contains Barking & Dagenham wards (Alibon, Eastbrook, Heath, River, Valence, Village, Whalebone) and three wards from the Borough of Havering (Elm Park, Rainham and Wennington, South Hornchurch) (3) New seat of Romford includes one ward (Chadwell Heath) from Barking & Dagenham (other wards are from Havering – Brooklands, Havering Park, Hylands, Mawneys, Pettits, Romford Town, Squirrel’s Heath)
