Brick Lane Curry Festival is back!

August 17, 2026

SAVE THE DATE: 20th September 2026. Having returned in 2025 after a nine-year hiatus, the Brick Lane Curry Festival is back again this year.

The event returned as part of the Mayor’s work to improve community cohesion – work which has seen a huge rise in residents getting on with their neighbours, according to the Annual Residents Survey.

This year’s event is being run by Tower Hamlets Council, the Bangla Town Business Association and Brick Lane Community Forum. It will begin with a procession going through Brick Lane and the nearby area. There will be live entertainment, sharing our history and cultural experiences throughout the day. The main focus – Bangladeshi and south Asian food – will not be forgotten! There will be food to buy from the Lane’s restaurants and from street stalls set up for the day, as well as cooking demonstrations.

The main event starts at noon on 20th September. If you put your name down for the event on Eventbrite, you will receive a 20% discount from participating restaurants across the weekend.

The event comes at a sad time for Brick Lane. The Government has approved a planning application to build a cinema, supermarket, market and a data centre on the Truman Brewery site. The development will include 44 homes, six of which would be for social rent. Whichever government official thought the area was crying out for a data centre needs to have a lie down in a dark room. This is a massive lost opportunity to enhance Brick Lane – and a good way to ruin it very quickly.

Enjoy the Curry Festival while it lasts – in coming years, this could turn into a Brick Lane Memorial event.
