Broadgate’s going LIVE this summer – for free!

June 17, 2015

Broadgate is a 30 acre site around Liverpool Street station, which now counts itself as part of the City of London. Recent development has seen the area brought together and managed so that the open spaces and facilities can be used by the working population for leisure and relaxation in their work breaks. The site is home to various events this summer, as well as parts of the City of London Festival. Most of the events are free and taking place in public areas – offering additional entertainment to the nearby East London community.

The series of event – held under the common name of “Summer Live” – will include big screen broadcasts of sports events (such as Wimbledon and the Rugby World Cup) and sporty things you can do – including, for example, the world’s only pop-up Streev Velodrome. There will also be films and theatre – with London Contemporary Theatre performing open air productions of the Wind in the Willows and Twelfth Night. Music, acrobatics, dance and circus performances will also be included.

The Broadgate area may not have been your first choice for a good night out, but with its restaurants, cafés, bars and street food from across the globe it could offer you everything you need for an evening off.
