Council consults on autism strategy

March 28, 2017

WORLD AUTISM Awareness Week runs from 27th March to 2nd April.

Estimates suggest that some 1% of the population suffers from autism to some degree. It is thought that 2,300 adults live with autism in Tower Hamlets and the Council has drafted a strategy for how it – and other relevant authorities such as health services – will support them.

The strategy sets out how the Council will help people with autism find employment and housing; how it will support those caring for someone with autism; and how it will help young people with autism deal with becoming adults.

The Council is asking residents to complete a survey on its services for people with autism. The survey is open until 12th May and can be found on: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/THAS
