The story starts on the dusty roads of Ranchi – but it ends in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, at the 2011 World Cup final. It’s the life story of M. S. Dhoni, a man who captured the collective dreams of a billion compatriots and is revered and applauded as a master cricketer and a true gentleman of the game.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in a middle class family and his father dreamed his son would secure an adequate education and go on to find a stable job. However, Mahi’s dexterity as a wicket keeper was spotted early on by a school teacher. From then on an array of people – coaches, mentors, friends and even enemies – contributed to the incredible journey of an ordinary teenager from a small town of eastern India to the most successful captain of the Indian cricket team.
Dhoni’s pride and respect for his nation was mirrored in his commitment never to let it down. M. S. Dhoni The Untold Story chronicles his journey in an ode to his silent responsibility to his craft and his unerring sense of focus and perseverance through troubled times until he eventually emerged to rewrite a nation’s cricketing destiny – and his own.
The film is directed by award-winning filmmaker, Neeraj Pandey. It starts Sushant Singh Rajput as “Mahi” (as Dhoni is fondly known). Rajpu is supported by Anupam Kher and Bhumika Chawla and breakthrough artists Kiara Advani and Disha Patani.
