THE DOCKLANDS COMMUNITY INITIATIVE has received a timely boost for the community winter support programmes. As part of its outreach programme, the Asda superstore on the Isle of Dogs has provided food items for sharing with those in need.
Volunteers from the team visited the store to collect lots of fresh food items, which will be shared with locals during the weekly Foodbank distribution. A portion of the allotted stock will be delivered to the homebound too.
DCI is running a winter Warm Hub which is proving popular and involves visitors sheltering from the cold by popping in for a chat, a hot drink and snacks.
DCI operational manager Sunu Miah commented, “We are able to run a thorough programme because of our volunteers and the generosity of our partners. Thank you everyone.”
