Doctors face 1% pay rise

The Review Body on Doctors’ Pay (DDRB) has recommended that doctors receive a 1% pay rise, and the British Medical Association (BMA) has responded, expressing disappointment on behalf of doctors. The BMA said that doctors had been working hard to find efficiency savings and deal with structural change. Doctors had therefore saved the NHS money and yet another below inflation rise would not help doctors’ morale.

The BMA has hinted that doctors who feel that the NHS is letting them down may consider moving into the private sector. However, doctors could perhaps consider joining with other NHS workers and actively campaigning for an end to austerity measures throughout the health service.
