The Welsh Bengal Dragons travelled down from Wales to take part in a crucial exhibition friendly as part of a fundraising drive to build the first ever girls only orphanage in Palestine.

The “Unity Through Sport” match saw the Dragons win the game 2-1, with both their goals coming in the second half. More importantly, the match raised over £3,000 for the project.

Sporting Bengal manager Imrul Gazi led from the back to orchestrate the 2-1 triumph. Gazi played the full 90 minutes. He said, “Orphans are among the most marginalised of our fellow human beings, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I’m honoured to have played a small part in this hugely beneficial humanitarian project and I would urge everyone to offer their support and bring a smile to the faces of these orphans.”
