To celebrate the Great Big Green Week, Company Drinks and the Little Litter League went for a walk in Barking Park, picking something a bit different this time, to help clean up the local green space.
Rubbish in local parks and green spaces mounts up daily and is often cleared by local volunteer picking groups. The group saw for themselves just how littering affects the local wild and plant life. The Great Big Green Week, held between 24th September and 2nd October, has been the greatest, biggest, greenest week the UK has ever seen – the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
Thousands of people across the country organised events or have been taking part in local area group sessions – including Shaun Tuck and Rofikul Islam BCAc. Four year old litter picker Aaminah said, “If we keep our park tidy and clean then lots of people can have fun and be happy.”
The current campaign has unleashed a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Tens of thousands of people in every corner of the country celebrated the heartfelt, brave, everyday actions being taken to stand up for nature and fight climate change.
