Fatal stabbing in Forest Gate

AN EAST LONDON teenager died last night after being stabbed in Forest Gate, Newham. He is thought to have been just 18 years old. This morning, police cordons were still up around the scene.

The emergency services received a call just before 11pm on Monday night, 16th April, saying that someone had been stabbed in Chestnut Road, E7 – near Forest Gate station. Police went to the scene – along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 11.27pm. The police are in the process of informing the next of kin. Formal identification and a post mortem will be arranged in due course.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan posted his condolences to the friends and family of the victim on social media and urged witnesses to come forward. He repeated his determination to rid London of knife crime.

Anyone who saw the stabbing or has any other information about it is asked to call police via 101, quoting reference CAD 8332/APR16.
