The Freedom Theatre: Creating Cultural Resistance

Performance followed by Q&A

Monday, 23rd June @ 7:30 pm

Wilton’s Music Hall

Tickets: £5 (on the door, no advance booking)

Tower Hamlets Jenin Friendship Association is delighted to welcome representatives of the Jenin Freedom Theatre to the Borough.

Ahamd Tobasi, actor and director of The Freedom Theatre Palestine, will be hosting an evening to explore the power and relevance of theatre to the ongoing struggle for justice. Ahamd and Zoe Lafferty, also from The Freedom Theatre, journey to Wilton’s to screen shorts, films and documentaries and to discus cultural resistance

The Freedom Theatre was built in the heart of the Palestinian resistance in Jenin Refugee Camp in 2006. The aim was to create a political and artistic movement of theatre and filmmakers who could fight the Israeli Occupation through art and use cultural resistance as a tool to fight oppression.

This is a preparatory evening for a whole company tour of the Theatre in Summer 2015.  There are many ways to get involved and be part of the first visit of this groundbreaking company’s tour.

Please join us for an evening of Culture and Resistance at Wilton’s Music Hall.

This is a chance to meet and experience how we can generate positive responses to violence and oppression: positive and progressive theatre for everyone!

This event is part of a U.K tour and features a range of screenings and debates. For more information on the Wilton’s event, go to:
