A WHITE BMW was stolen in Priory Street, Bow, earlier this month – in a strange theft which involved the use of threatening weapons including a knife and a gun.
A man was parking his car, a white BMW 3 Series, registration number KN17 KCX, on Priory Street just before 3am on Thursday, 3rd June. A woman was sat in the passenger seat. Two men then came up to the car from St Leonard’s Street – one on either side of the vehicle. One of the men demanded that the driver open the door, and he refused. The woman passenger then called 999, and it seemed that the two pedestrians ran away.
The driver and passenger waited a while. As it appeared that the two pedestrians had left the area, they started getting out of the car – but as they did so the two pedestrians returned. Again, one of the two men demanded that the driver get out of the car and again the driver refused. The man then made it clear that he had a knife, and he also pointed a gun at the driver – threatening to shoot him if he did not get out of the car.
At this point the driver and passenger both got out of the car and the two pedestrians got in. They were joined by a third man and then they drove away quickly. The three suspects were described as young men in their 20s, black and of slim build. They were said to be wearing dark coloured tracksuits and balaclavas.
Detective Constable Sasha Halai, who is investigating, said, “This incident has left the victims shaken. We know that a number of people saw what happened and we are appealing to them to get in touch. Any detail, photos or videos could help with our investigation and find the suspects who are potentially armed.
