KAAN ASLAN DIED last November – as Monday, 13th November turned into Tuesday, 14th November. It seems that he was returning home from a late shift delivering fast food – and when he got to the Nightingale Estate in Hackney he was stabbed.
Police still have an open mind about why Kaan Aslan was killed and what actually happened that night. It seems – though this is by no means certain – that there was some kind of disturbance involving a number of young men, and it was during this that the 20 year old died.
Now police have arrested six young men on suspicion of murder and violent disorder: one 17 year old, on 18 year old, two 19 year olds and two 20 year olds. They are being held in custody at an East London police station.
This brings the number of men arrested in this case to nine. A 25 year old man was arrested on 14th November, within hours of the killing, and two 23 year old men were arrested on 30th November. All three arrests were on suspicion of murder and these three men have been released from custody but remain under investigation.
•Police have made a further appeal to the public, asking that anyone who was in the Nightingale Estate area late on Monday, 13th November or in the early hours of Tuesday, 14th November to get in touch. The police would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident – but even if you didn’t see the stabbing itself, you may have seen something that helps the police fit together the jigsaw of what happened that night. Kaan Aslam had a loving family and they need to know what happened to Kaan as they try to come to terms with their loss.
