Hackney murder: three arrests made

THE YOUNG MAN murdered in Hackney ten days ago has been named by police. Alex Vanderpuye, aged 24, from Hackney, was stabbed at around 4.45pm on Thursday, 7th December and died at the scene. A post mortem has confirmed that the cause of death is stab wounds.

The Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command is investigating and so far there is no clear motive for the murder. The incident occurred near the junction of Christie Road and Cassland Road. The police went to that area on 14th December, one week after the murder, to try to jog memories and get some more information from the public.

Vanderpuye was formally identified on 11th December, and three men were arrested on suspicion of murder the following day. They remain in custody at London police stations.

Police are appealing to the public to contact them if they were in the area of the murder round about the time it occurred or if they have any other information.
