WE CLAPPED NHS workers; we clapped key workers employed by Local Authorities; we clapped for public sector workers. As national lockdown eases, are these key workers still getting the recognition they deserve?
A look at the campaigns currently being promoted by Tower Hamlets Keep Our NHS Public (KONP) suggests that the answer is “no”. One of the biggest problems is that the Government announced a pay rise for NHS staff back on 21st July – but nurses were excluded. Not surprisingly, this has prompted nurses to launch a campaign for fair pay – and for equality for black nurses too.
KONP and the campaign NHS Staff Voices are hosting a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, to highlight the campaigns for pay equality and justice going on in the NHS. Then on Saturday, there will be campaign events around the country to call for fair pay and justice in our health service – as well as the KONP AGM.
