STUDENTS AT THE London Enterprise Academy (LEA) had an unexpected treat on Monday morning, when the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy paid them a visit. This is the trophy won by England in that memorable, nail-biting final back in July 2019.

Bangladesh ex-cricketer and CEO of Capital Kids Cricket (CKC) Shahidul Alom Raton visited LEA on Monday, 17th January and brought the trophy with him for the pupils to see. The visit to LEA was part of a wider tour of East London which CKC had organised for the trophy in order to raise awareness of their “Bowl out racism” campaign.

Mr Ashid Ali, Principal of LEA, said, “We are taking the opportunity to welcome the World Cup here for the children to see. It is not often you get a World Cup in your school, so we wanted to make the most of it. I really hope this will motivate these young people to continue to take part and do their very best in whatever sport they choose to do.”
