A COLD-HEARTED woman who set her former lover up to be killed by another man – and then filmed the fatal attack and posted it on social media – has been handed a substantial prison sentence.

Fatima Khan, 21, of Jersey Road, Ilford, was found guilty of the manslaughter of Khalid Safi at the end of July after a trial at the Old Bailey. She had been arguing with Safi, with whom she had an on/off relationship, and she posted an exaggerated account of this on Snapchat, saying he had threatened to kill her.

A man who had been trying to start a relationship with her saw the post and rushed over to fight off Safi – ending up stabbing him in the heart. The wound proved fatal. The man was later named as Raza Khan, but he has not been found.

Khalid Safi was killed on 1st December 2016, and Fatima Khan was only arrested and charged after a long police inquiry.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell, from the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command, said, “Fatima used social media to bring about a confrontation between two young men vying for her affection. She posted a series of antagonising posts which she knew full well could, at the very least, result in serious harm coming to Khalid. When Khalid lay dying after being stabbed, her first thought was to capture the moment for social media – a truly perverse and callous course of action.

“Raza Khan is wanted for Khalid’s murder. Our efforts to bring him in for questioning continue. If you know where Khan is, I’d urge you to do the right thing and contact the police. Perhaps you have not come forward with information in the past due a number of reasons, none of that matters. All that matters is that all those responsible for taking a young man’s life are brought to justice.”

Anyone with information about Raza Khan is asked to call the police incident room on 020-8721 4054. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
