DANONE HAS recalled Aptamil First Infant Formula after the toxin cereulide was found in a batch of the formula. This recall comes just a couple of weeks after Nestle found the same toxin in its formula and had to issue a recall too.

The formula recalled by Danone is Aptamil First Infant Formula. It comes in an 800g pack showing the batch code 31-10-26 and has a “best before” date of 31st October 2026.

Cerulide makes babies ill. Symptoms, which can occur very quickly after the formula is consumed, include nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. The toxin is not destroyed by heating.

Anyone who has this product is urged not to feed it to babies. You should take it back to the shop where you bought it, where you should receive a full refund. If this formula was prescribed by a health professional, ask that health professional for advice, or speak to your pharmacist. If your baby has already consumed this product and you are concerned about the baby’s health, speak to a healthcare professional such as your GP or call NHS 111.
