A NEWHAM MAN appeared in court last week, charged with three terrorism-related offences. He had been arrested on 13th April but was charged on 19th April and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last Friday, where he was remanded in custody.
Ahmed Hussain, 27, was charged with: one count of encouragement of terrorism, contrary to section 1(2) of the Terrorism Act 2006, and two counts of possession of a document containing information useful for terrorist purposes, contrary to section 58(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000.
Hussain was arrested following an operation conducted by the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command. A woman, 24, from north London was arrested as part of the same operation. She has since been released on police bail until early May while inquiries continue.
