Lutfur Rahman, the Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets joined Independent Columnist Yasmin Alibhai Brown to address participants at a special Leadership dinner.

Cllr Marc Francis sent an email to Labour Group Leader Cllr Abbas expressing his discontent at the management of Labour Group.

The By-election in Spitalfields and Banglatown triggered by Lutfur Rahman’s election as Mayor will be held on the 16th of December.

Three Labour Councillors have pledged their support for working with Independent Mayor Rahman. Kabir Ahmed and Shahed Ali cited Labour’s refusal to work with the Mayor as primary reasons for breaking the Labour Group Whip. Cllr Abdul Asad also announced his decision to work with the Mayor.

The Tower Hamlets Respect Party chose former councillor Fozol Miah to be their candidate in the Spitalfields and Banglatown by-election to be held on 16th December.
