Pass the marmalade – and head for the granola

If you’re a morning person, book your ticket now for “No small talk before breakfast” – a feast of granola, exercise and all that’s great about the early hours. The Breakfast Festival (no, we hadn’t heard of one before now either, since you ask) is being held by Jonny Shimmin and Annie Morris, to celebrate their company Spoon Cereals taking another step forward in its bid for pride of place on the nation’s breakfast tables.

Spoon Cereals is only a couple of years old – set up after Jonny Shimmin and Annie Morris realised they were both disappointed with the range of breakfast foods readily available. They developed their own range of granola, which has been hawked around the UK at festivals and in a string of pop-up outlets. So far, so good: but then the couple won the ultimate young business accolade – support from a Dragon’s Den entrepreneur to launch their two best granola flavours nationwide.

Festival-goers will be treated to breakfast canapés on arrival as well as cold press juices, almond milks and speciality coffee from the likes of Botanic Lab, The Pressery, and Noble Espresso. Next comes to chance to tackle Spoon Cereal’s new granola – which they can top with gourmet natural yoghurt from The Collective, seasonal fruits and/or superfood toppings.

Alongside the breakfast will be early morning workouts, with Wireless Fitness pumping up the volume with a silent disco (no, no idea how you do that) and a range of other fitness professionals leading classes and offer advice. You’ll also be able to browse through the Spoon Cereals pop up shop which will be selling kitchenware collections, cookbooks and Spoon granola to enjoy at home.

On Saturday and Sunday the events will extend throughout the day, offering a curated series of talks and debates.

The Spoon Cereals breakfast festival will take place at Studio 2, 31 New Inn Yard, Shoreditch, EC2A 3EY from 7.30am to 10:30am on Friday, 17th July and from 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July.
