DETECTIVES will return to Shakespeare Walk, Hackney this afternoon – a week since Daniel Frederick suffered fatal stab wounds outside Burns House. They are hoping to jog the memories of locals and collect further leads for their investigation.

It was 5.48pm last Monday, 8th January, when police heard that a man had been stabbed. He was taken to an East London Hospital – but despite intensive efforts by medics he died just before midnight.

Police officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command have already appealed to the public for help, and they have even made one arrest – though the man was later released, under investigation.

Detective Inspector Paul Considine, who leads the investigation, explained, “From the information I have at this time it seems that Daniel may have been mistaken for somebody else. He appears to be a completely innocent victim who was walking through the estate when he was subject to an unprovoked attacked. I urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or knows who is responsible for Daniel’s murder to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020-8345 3734. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
