The end of the Bangladesh Football Association’s (BFA) Summer League saw Ponders End Football Club crowned Premier Division champions. The north London based team has been unstoppable en route to the league and beat-ex champions Stepney FC 5-0 in their final game to crown off on outstanding season.

Ponders End has been heads and shoulders above everyone else in the league throughout the campaign, and part of their success has been due to their ability to produce goals from all over the pitch. Centre back Ajibola Olatunbosun (AJ) has been the overwhelming top scorer in the league. During the game against E7 Probashi, AJ scored a mesmerising 9 goals. His 15 goals during the campaign have set a new record for the BFA summer league.

Ponders End captain Kamal Miah was jubilant: “Our opponents Stepney FC have done it all before, and it was extra poignant for us to beat such a great team in such fashion today. It has been a pleasure playing with this team and we will hopefully stick together and enjoy further success in the future.”

Abdal Ahmed from Ponders End said: “Today it’s been a carnival atmosphere. We have won the league – and what is even better is that we achieved it in great style and by playing a brand of football that has made us proud.”

BFA Chair Aroz Miah presented the champions trophy to Ponders End. He said: “Congratulations to Ponders End FC on an outstanding campaign. The BFA summer league gets better, and this season has been no exception. The level of football gets better and it has been a pleasure watching all participating teams. They have inspired so many others to take an interest the game.”
