A rain affected game saw Scintilla CC suffer another loss, this time to local rivals Newham CC at the Fairlop Oak Playing Field.

After a delay in play, which frustratingly saw both teams take the field an hour after other games had started at the same venue, Newham won the toss and decided to field first.

Poor batting at the crease saw the home side’s total kept down to 76 all out. The reduced overs did not matter, as the champions were all out in 25 overs. Only two batsmen were able to score over 10 runs. Newham duly wrapped up the game – finishing the match at 79/4 in 20.2 overs.

Scintilla CC captain for the day was Aaman Khan. He said: “We need to be more consistent and are struggling to stay at the crease for maximum overs. Cheap wickets cost us today and I have called for extra training to help remedy this. Nobody is going to do us any favours and we will have to set it right ourselves.”
