A ten man Scintilla team registered a second consecutive National Cricket League win against Kothi CC at the Douglas Eyre playing fields, Walthamstow.

Sajal Rahman won the toss and Scintilla batted first to reach 208 all out from 39.2 overs, with Zisan Abedin not out on 63. He was supported by Ashraful Islam (32) and Toufik Billah (22).

With the afternoon heat on the rise, Kothi lost two early wickets, but a stubborn 65 from Jignesh provided their Barking & Dagenham opponents with a challenge to overcome. Fortunately three wickets each from Abedin and Ashish, and two each from Billah and Ashfaqur Rahaman were enough to steer the visitors home with a 31 run win.

Scintilla skipper Sajal Rahman reviewed the performance: “The standard of cricket in the NCL is very good. It’s been sweltering today and this posed us tactical challenges which I believe we overcame with great efficiency. I’m happy at how the boys adapted tactics with bat and ball to pull of a great win.”

Man of the match Zisan Abedin praised opponents Kothi: “They are a strong team with a solid backbone. It was a very hard fought win for us, which makes it all the more satisfying. I’m just glad we were able to take the points.”
