Stepney FC were beaten by SYA at Mabley Green as the race for the title hots up.

Israel Amadi scored two goals either side of the half time whistle to take home the spoils for Muhammed Nashir’s men who are firmly established as dark horses for the title after winning promotion to the Premiership last season.

Nashir said, ”We are looking to consolidate and anything else is a bonus. The talent is there and I have laid down the challenge to the boys to see how far they can go.”

Stepney manager Emdad Rahman commented, “A thoroughly disappointing night but we give credit to SYA for snuffing out our threats. We were sucker punched. My players are old hands and have been there before – I expect them to come back firing.”

SYA, London Tigers and Stepney now sit even at the top with ten points each. Stepney lead courtesy of a better goal difference.
