Kee’s Akhiyan returns refreshed

After the huge success of “Akhiyan”, British Asian artist Kee returns with a new remix of the Punjabi-infused dancefloor anthem, with a beat produced by JC Sona and additional vocals by rapper Tino Atilla. Kee said: “I really loved working with these guys. I think they’ve really done justice to the original version and I’m sure that people will enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

JC Sona was born and raised in Southampton, where he won the name “Master of the Decks”. Previously a member of chart-topping, world-touring group Sona Family, JC won awards for the group’s single “Glassy” and nominations for best group and album for “Make Some Noise”. His solo single “Nakhro” has been featured in Eastenders, and his recent release “Falling Star” is currently doing the round on dance floors around the world. JC Sona brings his own style to the table by fusing sounds and working with an array of artists from different genres. His current production portfolio consists of RNB, trap, dubstep, hip hop, dance and house music.

Tino Atillo began his journey in the mid ’90sas a resident DJ at his local nightclub, experimenting with rap in his spare time. He remained behind the scenes for four years producing for himself and others before returning to performance with a finely honed rap style which had now mixed with conventional singing.

Dave Bawa delivers first track from new EP

Cutting-edge, versatile, unique and a true representation of home-grown Canadian talent: what better way to describe young newcomer Dave Bawa! Born and raised in Victoria BC and now residing in Vancouver, Dave is set to release his debut EP “This Is Me”. Produced by Harj Nagra, the EP features an eclectic mix of urban sounds fused with Punjabi and English lyrics and vocals by Dave.

The first track is out on 6th August: “Aish”, a melodious, body-swaying tune in English and Punjabi. Harj Nagra has brought us a truly international urban desi collaboration, combining Dave with US rapper Rush Toor and adding Punjabi rap by Shrey Sean.

The young artist is also working on a full 10-track studio album with musical maestro Rishi Rich in Rishi’s studio in Atlanta – which is due to be completed by the end of the year. Dave Bawa explained: “This piece of work was inspired by the struggles I went through to discover and develop my original sound, situations that I went through in my personal life… [It’s] a symbol of the hard work myself, my producer Harj Nagra and my manager Manpal Rana have put into creating it.”

The EP is available for pre-order via iTunes.

Juggy presents: “Indian Twerk”

Punjabi rockstar Juggy D returns to create mayhem with his latest tune “Indian Twerk”. This time he collaborates with the UK’s international award winning DJ Scottie B and MC Bushkin, the former member of the innovative London garage outfit Heartless Crew. The trio deliver a guaranteed floor-filler: Scottie B’s infectious hip-pop rhythm interspersed with Juggy’s unique Punjabi sound and Bushkin’s inimitable vocal flow. Just one listen and you’re hooked – your body moving and your booty shaking!

Scottie B has been an MTV Presenter and was nominated for MOBO and UMA (Urban Music Awards) awards. He’s also had a gold selling compilation album and has remixed for Rihanna, Labrinth, Tinie Tempah, Chipmunk, Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson and Nelly – to name but a few.

Bushkin is no stranger to the music industry. Starting off with Heartless Crew back in the early 90’s and then forming Fonti and Bushkin (FAB), he now holds down a successful solo career as an MC as well as running his own record label Bush Bash Recordings.

Juggy said: “I met Scottie B at an event in Dubai and we exchanged numbers. I never really called him for a couple of years but then one day I hit him up to see if he was still up for doing something together and amazingly within a week this track happened!

“I loved working on this track with Scottie B but once the track was nearly done I felt it needed more of an urban touch to it. I was sitting in the car with a friend who was speaking to Bushkin about some other business. I know Bushkin from back in the day and I just had a brainwave, I grabbed the phone, spoke to him briefly, played the song down the phone and he loved it and within a day he was on it too! It’s all about the vibe!

“It has been some time and it’s a little later than planned but that’s a desi thing! Anyway, Indian Twerk is ready to be unleashed. Time to shake your bootiya!”

Indian Twerk is available via iTunes and other digital stores.
