IN OCTOBER we usually celebrate Black History. This month we are looking at how Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Councillors are making new history.

Today we feature Cllr Dipa Das, who represents St Dunstan’s ward in Tower Hamlets.  Here are two recent tweets from Cllr Das’s Twitter account.

Here is Cllr Das standing up for the poor: “I’ve just signed the petition calling on the government to give Disabled people on other benefits the emergency £20 increase that Universal Credit has seen.  Will you join me?” @DipaDas, 19th November 2020

And here is Cllr Das – Member of Tower Hamlets Council Development Committee; Member of Tower Hamlets Council Strategic Development Committee – standing alongside the developers of Canary Wharf and Wood Wharf (two of the biggest developments in Tower Hamlets). “Absolutely honoured to attend the Diwali celebration launch today organised by @CanaryWharfGrp, so wonderful and amazing exhibition, do check it out, its on till Sun 15th Nov 2020.” @DipaDas, 10th November 2020
