London Tigers had another successful weekend, winning 7 games in a row in a short space of 3 days, culminating in lifting the SNT Cup 2011 on Monday 18th April 2011 for their fourth time in as many years.

Tigers continued their winning streak at the 9th Annual Safer Neighbourhood Tournament Cup, competing against 32 teams and winning their 5 games to reach the final at Mile End Stadium.

The Cup Final was an extremely tight contest between the Asian giants of the West, London Tigers and Beaumont FC aka Sporting Bengals of the East, resulting in a draw of 2-2.

The first score came from Beaumont’s Shahed Ahmed in the opening ten minutes after a free kick. Tigers equalised in the 37th minute through Kye Hendrix who go on the end of a bending free kick and finished with a diving header.

Tiger’s Hardy then scored a header from a corner around the 50th minute before Beaumont’s midfielder Javier Riveria scored the goal of the game from 30 yards out into the top corner in 80th minute levelling the score to 2-2 by the end of the game, resulting in penalties to decide the winners.

London Tigers won 5-4 on penalties with Justin hitting the post on the fourth penalty for Beaumont.

“Well done to all the players and everyone involved in helping and organising the tournament to make it a success,” said Mesba Ahmed, CEO of London Tigers. “It was a fantastic weekend for London Tigers, despite many spectators wanting to see us lose as not many teams at grassroots level can say they’ve won a tournament four years back to back. The tournament is getting tougher each year and doing well to bring competitive play to culturally diverse teams. It was great to be at the home of grassroots football Hackney Marshes where the preliminaries took place.”
