Weekend Tube strike in the balance

ONE UNION HAS called off strike action due to take place this weekend – while another is still on course for a walkout.

The two unions want London Underground (LU) to allow Night Tube drivers who work at weekends to be allowed to apply for full-time jobs which become available, while LU has been trying to fill such vacancies from new applicants.

Aslef, the train drivers’ union, called off its strike action after LU “clarified” its position.

RMT, the main rail union, remains in dispute with LU and intends that its members will take strike action this weekend.

Aslef will now be balloting its members, recommending that they now end their industrial action. RMT remains in dispute.
