POLICE HAVE released a CCTV picture showing a man they wish to identify, locate and speak to in connection with a sexual assault which took place in a hotel in Barking last October.
On Saturday, 28th October a 19 year old woman went to spend the night at the Barking Park Hotel in Tanner Street after enjoying a night out with friends. She woke up in the early hours of Sunday morning to find a man in her room. He removed her clothing and sexually assaulted her.
The woman left the hotel and went to the home of a family member which was nearby, from where she contacted the police.
The suspect is described as a large Asian man in his mid-30s. He has dark hair and a beard. He speaks with a London accent and was driving a silver coloured Audi. He is believed to use the name “Jay”.
Detective Constable Angela Nemeth of the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command said, “The victim was out with friends and later went to sleep in her room. The suspect, whom she had met earlier that evening, entered the room whilst she was asleep and sexually assaulted her. Despite forensic tests, we have not identified her attacker and are appealing to the media to help identify this man as part of our enquiries.”
Anyone who can help identify “Jay” I asked to contact the police via 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
