POLICE ARE asking the public to help them identify a man they wish to speak to in connection with an unprovoked attack in Newham.
The attack took place on Sunday, 6th May. It was around 11pm. A 45 year old man was paying for his shopping at a convenience store on High Street North, E6. As he did so, another man came up to him and accused him of “looking at” him.
The man continued paying for his shopping – but the second man continued to harass him, eventually pulling him across the store and pushing him out onto the street. Two other men barged into him. The combined efforts of the three succeeded in knocking the victim over.
Members of the public who were sat in a parked car outside the shop saw what had happened. Between them they chased the attackers away and helped the victim, who suffered a broken wrist and fractured elbow as a result of the fall.
The investigating officer, Detective Constable David Van Der Valk of Newham CID, said, “This was an entirely unprovoked and vicious attack on a member of the public just going about his business. I urge anyone who can name this person to contact us to help us apprehend this violent individual.”
