Joshua Bwalya: police re-visit murder scene

By admin1

August 08, 2017

JOSHUA BWALYA lost his life – after just 16 years – in the early hours of 2nd August in Movers Lane, at the junction with Ripple Road, Barking.

Police officers will be going out this evening in that area – one week after Joshua was killed. The police are attempting to jog memories and obtain more witness evidence to help them piece together what happened.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes, of the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command is leading the investigation. He said, “Tonight, my officers will be back at the scene handing out leaflets and speaking to people in the area. If you were in the area of Movers Lane by Ripple Road on the morning of Joshua’s murder and saw anything, or if you have information that could assist this investigation, then please contact police or Crimestoppers.

“Joshua’s young life was cut short by a senseless act of violence when he was approaching the prime of his life. The attack was not only cowardly, but brutal. I urge anyone who has information that can help our investigation to come forward and help us to bring Joshua’s murderers to justice.”

By Monday this week, four young men had been arrested in connection with this inquiry. On Monday evening, they were joined by a fifth young man – a 19 year old, arrested on suspicion of murder, who is in custody in a police station in South London.

If you were in this part of Barking late on 1st August or in the early hours of 2nd August, or if you have any other information which could help police, please call the Homicide and Major Crime Command Incident Room on 020-8345 1570.  Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
