THERE WAS TRAGEDY in Barking Road, Newham, at 2pm this afternoon as a woman, 67, was knocked over by a lorry. The emergency services attended and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s next of kin have been informed. Police have launched an investigation.
Part of Barking Road has been cordoned off and traffic disruption is expected during this evening’s rush hour. Bus diversions are in place.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to telephone police via 101.
