POLICE WERE called out at just past 10pm on Monday, 31st July after gunshots were heard in or around Woodman Street, North Woolwich, E16. The officers must have thought it was groundhog day: less than 24 hours earlier, they had responded to gunshots being heard in Canning Town.
When police arrived in Woodman Street they found that a 25 year old man had been shot in the torso (the same injury as the Canning Town victim) and he also had facial injuries. The man was taken to hospital: he remains in hospital, in a critical but stable condition.
Initial information is that the victim was shot by someone in a motor car, which sped off immediately after the shooting. The Trident and Area Crime Command is investigating.
If you witnessed the shooting or were in the area or have any other information about the incident, please telephone the Trident and Area Crime Command witness line, 020-8217 7380, or via 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where you can give information anonymously.
