A TEENAGER is being treated in an East London hospital after being shot at around 11.40pm on Friday night, 28th June, in Loxford Lane, Ilford. Minutes after police were called out to the shooting, they received reports that shots had been heard in the High Road.

The victim managed to knock on the front doors of residential properties around Loxford Lane – Rowan Close, Oak Tree Grove and Hornbeam Close – asking locals to help him. Witnesses report hearing the youth screaming that he was dying and begging for help. A doctor who lives locally has told reporters that he came to the boy’s assistance and tried to stop bleeding from a wound on his elbow which looked like a gunshot wound.

Some witnesses suggested that the youth, 19, had been stabbed before he was shot, but this has not been confirmed by the police. There is no official confirmation about the victim’s condition, but it is thought not to be life-threatening.

While some police remained in Loxford Lane, others followed up the reports that shots had been fired in the High Road. Police found evidence of a firearm having been fired there – but no suspects or victims were present.

An area around Loxford Lane was cordoned off on Saturday, with a heavy police presence being maintained in the area. Police also issued a Section 60 Stop and Search Order in the area, which remained in effect until 3.30pm on Saturday.

Anyone who saw the shooting in Loxford Lane or a gun being discharged in the High Road, or who has any other information about these two events, is asked to contact the police via 101 and quote reference CAD9699/28 Jun. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
