JUNAED TANIN continued his irresistible form as the all-rounder produced another match winning performance to send Scintilla to the summit of the Essex Sunday League.
Old Parkonians won the toss and decided to bat first – reaching 229 all out, with Tanin claiming 5 scalps. Sajal Rahman and Mohammad Badrul Alam Chowdhury (Bappy) took two apiece, with Ashfaqur Rahaman Nobel taking a solitary wicket.
Tanin’s 65 run partnership with veteran Sajal Rahman, who was 34 not out, was crucial in the match being won after dynamic opener Ashraful Islam had fallen agonisingly short of a half century with 47. Man of the match Tanin was 79 not out as Scintilla won by 5 wickets.
Scintilla skipper Shaha Riadh was full of praise, saying, “I’m very proud with the response from the boys. It was blazing hot and the majority of the team were fasting as it is Ramadan. We have character and an iron will to succeed. It’s fantastic we are top and the key now is to maintain this form.”
