Murder in Bow

AN ARGUMENT in Parnell Road, E3 on Monday evening (3rd April) has left a man dead – and the police are appealing for help from the public.

It seems that two men were both travelling on the 488 bus and having some kind of argument. They both got off the bus in Parnell Road – and the argument continued. One of the men then collapsed.

Police and the Ambulance Service received a call at approximately 8.45pm and arrived to find the man who had collapsed was still on the ground, unconscious. The man was taken to an East London Hospital, where he later died.

The deceased man is described as being in his late 60s. Police are in the process of informing his next of kin. Formal identification is awaited and a post mortem examination will be held in due course.

Police also arrested a 73 year old man near the scene. He was arrested on suspicion of causing Grievous Bodily Harm and is now in custody at an East London police station.

The investigation into the incident is being handled by the Homicide and Major Crime Command. They have asked for any witnesses who saw the men on the bus or in Parnell Road to contact the Incident Room on 020-8345 3985 or to contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111, where your call will be treated confidentially and you do not even have to give your name.
